Clayton senior Jason Creay (W 2-0), a North Carolina State committ, limited Garner to just one hit while striking out four as the Comets blanked the Trojans 11-0 on Friday night at Trojan Park.

Clayton (7-3, 3-0) scored twice in the second off Danny Shortt (L 1-1), the Garner (2-4, 0-2) staring pitcher. With the bases loaded and one out, Matt Reid walked to bring home a run. It looked like Garner would be out of the inning with only some damage done as Shortt got a comebacker and went home for the second out of the inning and the relay throw to first rolled past the first basemen allowing the second Comet run to score.

Garner trailed by only two after the first three innings, but the Trojans missed a couple of scoring chances in the first and third after the leadoff hitter reached, Garner was unable to move the runner to second on a failed bunt which allowed Clayton to get out of the inning.

In the fourth, Clayton sent nine hitters to the plate scoring five runs (all unearned) in the fourth as Garner committed six of their eight errors in the fourth inning.

Clayton added a pair of runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to take the 11-0 win over Garner.

The Trojans are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Knightdale for a 7:00 first pitch.
