In the bottom of the first, Garner (11-11, 8-5) scored all four of their runs in the first inning. After the two run home run by Hulmes (his fifth of the season), Brett Walters and Norris walked ahead of Colin Perry. The Senior picked up his first hit of the year by lacing a line drive to left to plate two and give the Trojans a 4-0 lead after one.

East Wake (13-8, 9-5) picked up an unearned run against Norris (W, 6-3) in the third when Taylor Griswold doubled to score Christian Neal.

The Trojans threatened again in the sixth as Riley Gallaher doubled to begin the inning but was "thrown out" trying to steal third. However, Perry walked and advanced to third but was stranded there.

In the seventh, Norris struck out the first two hitters, but walked the next two, then gave up a single to load the bases before giving up a walk to cut the lead in half. That walk would end the Seniors night on the mound as Hulmes came on to try and close the book.

Hulmes (S, 2) walked the first man he faced which forced home another run and made it 4-3. Wes Luck was the final home for the Warriors and on an 0-2 pitch, Luck bounced into a fielder's choice and give the Trojans a Senior Night win.

Late inning rally sends Garner past Southeast Raleigh

WEB CAST.

Garner scored two-runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game with Southeast Raleigh before scoring the winning run in the ninth inning to defeat the Bulldogs 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Trojan Park.

Southeast Raleigh (0-17, 0-12) struck first in the opening frame as Colin Tangherlini doubled to begin the game and he later came around to score on a fielding error.

The Bulldogs added to their one-run lead with a two spot in the third. Kris Griffits walked and Tangherlini followed with a single to put runners at the corners for Dante Jones who laid down a safety squeeze allowing Griffiths to score. Tangeherlini was brought hom on a Travis Fritts single and after three, it was 3-0 Southeast.

Garner (10-11, 8-4) had scoring chances in both the third and fourth but could not capitalize. The first Trojan run scored in the sixth inning when Taylor Stephens brought home Connor Torruella on a sacrifice fly to center. However, it would be all the Trojans would get as they left runners at second and third.

Still trailing by two in the seventh, Garner was down to their final out when Colin Perry grabbed a bat to pinch hit and reached on a fielding error by David Wallace. Brandon Tant followed with a infield single and after Perry stole third, the Trojans had runners at the corners with two outs. Torruella followed and doubled down the line in right to bring both runs home and knot the score at three and send the game into extra innings.

Southeast threatened but did not score in the eighth as they got three consecutive walks but couldn't score as Will Norris and Alec Hulmes got starting pitcher, Danny Shortt off the hook. Garner couldn't scratch in eight and the game moved to the ninth.

The Bulldogs didn't score against Hulmes in the top of the ninth and Garner once again had a chance to win the game.

Perry led off the frame getting hit and trotted to first. After a fly out, Torruella lined a ball off the leg of Tangherlini which rolled all the way to the third base dugout and once the dust had cleared, the Trojans had runners at second and third with one out as the Bulldogs were forced to change pitchers.

Enter Jon Baxter who's first pitch of the afternoon was laced back up the middle by Hulmes for an RBI single and gave the men of Troy a 4-3 win.

Garner will be back at Trojan Park on Friday night for Senior Night as they host East Wake at 7:00.
