Will Norris tossed six innings of one hit baseball allowing one unearned run and striking out seven as Garner picked up a 5-3 win over Millbrook on Monday afternoon at Trojan Park.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third, that's when Garner (2-2) scored their first run of the game. With the bases loaded and one out, clean up hitter, CJ Schmitt sent a deep fly ball to left field which was deep enough to send Brandon Tant and give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

With Norris still crusing on the hill, Garner put some insurance runs up on the board with a three spot in the fourth inning. With one out and Norris standing at first with a lead off walk moved to second base when Connor Torruella reached on an error. Both runners came around to score when Danny Shortt delivered a double to the gap in left centerfield. Shortt would later score on a pass ball to give Garner a 4-0 advantage.

Millbrook (0-3) had their best scoring chance in the fifth inning as the loaded the bases with just one out and only down four. However, Norris got Clark Abbott to bounce into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play to get the men of Troy out of the jam.

The final Trojan run came in the fifth as Norris scored on another error by the Millbrook shortstop, and going to the sixth, Garner led 5-1.

In the seventh, the Wildcats plated a pair of runs off Garner relief pitcher, Alec Hulmes. However, Hulmes closed the game by getting Aaron Hunt to bounce out to end the ballgame.

Garner is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Middle Creek with first pitch scheduled for 4:15.
