Apex tops Trojans in JV tournament

The Trojans fall to Apex 2-0 in the Stock Building Supply JV Tournament played at W.Harnett HS. Jackson Pleasant holds the Cougar squad to 2 runs but the Trojans are unable to scratch a run. The Trojans finish in the top four out of 12 teams and will be playing for 3rd on Monday March 31st vs Green Hope at 4pm at Fuquay Varina.

GPD Golf Tournament to benefit Special Olympics

The Garner Police Department will be hosting their annual golf challenge July 11, 2008 starting at 1pm at Reedy Creek Golf Course. Dinner will be served at the conclusion of the challenge. Awards and a raffle will then conclude the afternoon. Cost is $300 per team and sponsorships are available for as little as $100. Contact Officer Mike McIver for registration.

Trojans top Middle Creek in Stock Building Supply tournament

Garner defeats Middle Creek 2-1 on Brett Bailey's RBI to score Brett Walters from third in the bottom of the 7th. Matt Powell started for the Trojans and was relieved by Colin Perry and Wil Norris picks up the win. The Trojans defense is impressive, including 3 double plays. The Trojans advance to a 7PM game Saturday, also at W.Harnett HS.

Lacrosse dominates the Bulldogs

The Trojans take the home match vs SE Raleigh 12-4. The Trojans (4-2) head into Spring Break with a 4-2 record.

The Lady Trojans stay undefeated with another shutout GNRC win 8-0 over Holly Springs. All-State performer, Meagan Proper has a huge nine point night with 3 goals and 3 assists for the Trojans (7-0-2). NCSU signee Paige Dugal nearly matches Proper with a 3-goal, 2-assist, 8 point evening. The teams play again at Holly Springs Thursday night, in a game re-scheduled from Monday:

Garner Lions Club "Dollar for Scholars" golf set for April 23rd

The Garner Lions Club will be having their 24th annual "Dollars for Scholars" golf tournament on Wednesday, April 23 at 1pm at Riverwood Golf Course in Clayton. All proceeds from this tournament goes to scholarships for senior students at Garner Magnet High School and Wake Christian Academy. This is a "best ball" tournament format. Guererro wins NATA National Service Award

Head Athletic Trainer Mike Guerrero will be awarded the National Athletic Trainers' Association Service Award at the National Convention this June in St. Louis, Missouri . Mike was also the recipient of the 2007 Triangle Area Community Sports Medicine of the Year award in December 2007 and has served meritoriously as the Head Trainer for the NC-SC Shrine Bowl for the past 4 years. A 1982 alum of Garner High School, Mike is a two time NCATA Trainer of the Year. Congratulations Mr. Guerrero!!

Triton edges Trojan lacrosse

The Trojans are edged by Triton in their season opener 13-10. The varsity team has been battling weather postponements and the game was moved up a day due to the Friday forecast. The Trojans are next in action on Tuesday, Mar. 11th at Trojan Stadium vs Millbrook.

Varsity soccer wins at Clayton

Lady Trojan soccer team remains unbeaten with a 6-4 win against Clayton tonight. Paige Dugal has three goals for the 2nd consecutive match and adds an assist. Meagan Proper has two goals as she has had for each Trojan (3-0-1) match this season and 4 assists. Danielle McCartney adds a goal and an assist.

Lady Trojans blast the Caps

The Lady Trojans' bats get healthly in a big way with 24 hits and an impressive 4-hitter by Christie Wright to get the 21-4 road win at Broughton. Home runs from Morgan Barbour, Amanda Beach and Christie Wright in 5-run fifth inning puts the game away. Barbour's 2nd homer of the season, a 3-run shot, is followed by an Amanda Beach solo shot. An out later, winning pitcher Christie Wright adds another solo shot, her 2nd of the year. The Lady Trojans (2-2) bang out 24 hits, with Nadia Jeffries 4 for 5:

Garner Magnet High School College Fair
