Lady Trojans blast the Bulldogs

The Lady Trojans roll to a 12-1 win at SE Raleigh. Questionable strike calls early in the game, coach and player warnings started this game out in true fashion. Garner broke the tension in the 3rd inning with the top of the order forcing the SE Raleigh defense to stand there with no plays while the Garner runners advanced bases. Same thing for the 5th inning when Ashley Carroll, Kasey Hamrick, Hallie Warner, Nadia Jeffries, and Mary Scott Powell string of hits produced 6 runs. The SE Raleigh pitcher Strickland took herself out of the game in the 5th inning with a sore leg and relief Shana Unger was left with a mess to clean up. JV Trojans win again
The JV Lady Trojans down SSS 2-1. Garner came out ready to play yesterday dominating the first half, but played on their heels for most of the second half, barely escaping with a victory. Heather McClung scored first off an assist from Ali Ward. Later in the half Ashley Ford was able to finish coming off of a cross from Maria Rivera. The Trojan defense only allowed a couple opportunities in the first half, but Smithfield-Selma was able to capitalize on one of those, placing a shot in the corner. The score at halftime was 2-1 and remained that way for the second half. The Lady Trojans (2-2-1) displayed some moments of brilliance such as the combination play between Emily Chalk and Ford, who crossed the ball to Pierce who headed the ball just wide of the goal.

Wright, Stephenson nominated for Wendy's High School Heisman

Congratulations to Seniors Christie Wright and Patrick Stephenson for their nominations for the Wendy's High School Heisman! Patrick will be attending NCSU next year and Christie has committed to play softball for the Chowan Braves in 2009!! Patrick's 3/10 interview is below and Christie's will be added 3/17!!

Program History
For eight generations, the Heisman name has signified excellence, determination, and prestige among college football’s elite. In 1994, the next level of outstanding achievers ensconced their names into the Heisman lore when the Wendy’s High School Heisman (WHSH) was created.
The WHSH program has set the standard for high school student-athletes, and gained tremendous prestige in its own right. Each fall, the program recognizes the nation’s most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics, athletics, and community/school involvement.

Congratulations Christie and Patrick!!!!
