GMHS to offer discounted athletic physicals

Sports physicals for Garner Magnet High School student athletes will be offered on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the physical will be $20 per student due the evening of the physical, with all proceeds returned to the athletic program at GMHS. (If you are paying with a check please make check payable to Garner Trojan Club.) This event is sponsored by Raleigh Orthopaedic Group, Garner Family Practice, Rex Heart, and Wake Heart. It will be held at Garner Magnet High School in the Auxiliary Gym (Small Gym). To receive a physical the student athlete must arrive with a completed and signed Garner High School Athletic Participation Form and GF Concussion Form. No exceptions will be made. Download the forms below or you may pick up one of these forms from Mr. Guerrero’s office Room 327, or in the front office at Garner Magnet High School. Please note if you have other forms that need to be filled out, ie for Middle School, Pop Warner, Boy Scouts, Camps, etc, you must bring that form with you. We are not capable of completing these following your physical.

In order to provide the physicians with an accurate attendance count you will need to send your reservation form by email to or bring by the Athletic Office at GMHS by Friday, May 24, 2013.

4A State Track Meet

Nyheim Hines place third in the boys 300 hurdles

Nyah Hines finished 7th  overall in the girls 100 hurdles

Justin Burkey place 10th overall in 3200 meter run

The girls 4X100  Nyah Hines,  Khai Chandler,  Joyceln Eason  , Lacheri Clarke finish 11th overall

Garner Blows Over Terry Sanford

The Garner trojans baseball team beats Fayetteville's Terry Sanford 5-1 last Friday night. Brighton Hudson pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out five. Skyler Strickland hits a solo home run. This makes it the boys 23rd straight win. The boys will travel to Richmond County for the 4th round of playoffs Tuesday night.

Baseball Advances To The Third Round

Trojans baseball beats New Bern 5-1 last night in the second round of playoffs now leading them into the third round against Terry Stanford. The boys started off the game strong from the beginning with Vince Jefferies hitting a home run  in the first inning and made a great diving catch in the left field during the game.Skyler Strickland pitched a good 6 scoreless innings.They will play Friday night at trojan park at 7 against Terry Stanford.

NCHSAA Baseball Bracket

Softball unfortunately won't make it to the third round of playoffs as they fell 6-4 to East Wake Tuesday night. Not able to hold them up Alisha Josey still hit a two run home run.


Tuesday's 2nd round baseball playoff game will now start at 6:00 pm at Trojan Park.

Softball will still play at 7:00 pm.

Admission is $4.00 at the gate.

Softball & Baseball Move To The Second Round Of Playoffs

Softball shuts down Athens Drive Friday night in the first round of the playoffs 10-0. Courtney Weathersbee had a 3 run double and Maddy Stewart added a 2 run double to lead the Lady Trojans to victory. The Lady Trojans play in the second round Tuesday night at home against Greater Neuse River Conference foe East Wake at 7:00.

Baseball has a great win against Person 2-0 Friday night. Brighton Hudson started on the mound for the Trojans and threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts and allowed just two hits. The boys play New Bern High School this Tuesday night at 6:00 at Trojan Park in the second round.

Garner's Track Team Competes In The 4A State Championship

Congrats to the  Boys and Girls Track Teams  for a successful Saturday at the 4A Eastern Regional Championships

Nyah Hines finished 3rd in the Girls 100 Hurdles.

The girls  4x100 relay  ( Nyah Hines , Joycelyn Eason, Khai Chandler, Lacherie Clark) finshed in 4th place.

Justin Burkey finish  3rd in the boys 2mile with a personal best time of 9:47 ( a new  school record) .

Nyhiem Hines finish second in the 300 hurdles and 4th place in the 100 meter dash

Those athletes will be competing at the 4A State Championships  this Saturday on the Campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro

Baseball's first round of playoffs start today against Roxboro Person at 7. Will host Knightdale/New Bern winner in the second round.

Softball plays Athens Drive tonight for their first round at 7. Will face East Wake/ Laney winner in second round.

Baseball Has An Undefeated Season

Baseball ended their regular season last night against Harnett Central 7-6 and now are undefeated in conference. They are holding the first seed spot in the GNRC going into playoffs. The first round of playoffs start for them Friday at 7 at home.

Playoffs Begin For Spring Sports

Women's soccer start the first round of playoffs Wednesday against Terry Sanford at 6.

Both softball and baseball have their last home game tonight for the regular season against Harnett Central.

Friday playoffs start for baseball and softball at home, time are to be announced.

Garner Strikes Out Knightdale

Baseball won 12-0 against Knightdale, Brighton Hudson threw a 6 inning shut out. Skyler Strickland as well hit a home run for the trojans. The boys finish out their regular season against Southeast tomorrow night, and with a win will be conference champions for the first time since 2006.

Softball also shuts down Knightdale only giving up 1 run winning 9-1. Alisha Josey hit a 2 run home run last night. They also play southeast tomorrow, and Harnett Central Monday for senior night to close there regular season.

Women's Soccer Shuts Out Harnett Central

The lady trojans last night finished their last conference game and senior night against Harnett Central with a 6-0 win. The girls kept a steady pace the whole game keeping it away from Central. Goals were scored by Bayleigh Adams (2) Michaela Wycoff (2) Taylor Cooke (1) Hannah Hamlin (1) and three assist for Heather Wilfong and a shut out for goalie Elizabeth Pittman. The girls go into playoffs next week standing in third place.

Nyhiem Hines finished first in the boys 300 hurdles with a time of 39.7
 Michael Jenkins finished second the boys Triple jump with mark of 45 feet and 1 inch
Jose  Rosas placed third in boys 2 mile with a time of 10:13
Justin  Burkey finished third in the  mile at a time of 4:39
Sterling Sanders with a second place finish in the High Jump at 6ft 2in
Nyah Hines  second place in the girls 100 hurdles

Both Boys and Girls track finshes in fourth place in a highly contested meet. The Trojans will be well represented at the upcoming  Regionals.
