Garner used a six run first inning to put Southeast Raleigh away very early on Tuesday afternoon as the routed the Bulldogs 15-2.
The Trojans sent 10 hitters to the plate in the opening frame against Kris Griffiths (L 0-2). Brandon Tant led off with a single and stole second as did Alec Hulmes. CJ Schmitt then walked to load the bases ahead of Will Norris who walked to bring home Tant. Brett Walters made it 2-0 when he sent a sacrifice fly to center to plate Hulmes. After a Connor Torruella single the bases were loaded again for Aquail Sanders who got his first hit of the season as he singled home a pair down the right field line, and it was 4-0 Trojans. The final blows of the inning came from Jacob Faucette who brought home two with a single to left.
After the six run first, Garner (5-4, 3-2) sent Norris (W 3-2) to the mound where the retired the Bulldogs without and issue.
Garner scored again in the third inning when they plated three. Walters led off the frame with a home run, his second of the season, down the left field line. Sanders reached after he struck out but the ball rolled away from the Bulldog catcher to allow him to reach. Faucette singled again a walk to Tant loaded the bases for Taylor Stephens who grounded into a fielder's choice to plate Sanders and make it 8-0 Garner. The final run came across when Hulmes collected his eighth RBI of the year with a single to right.
Southeast Raleigh (0-7, 0-4) scored their only runs of the game in the bottom of the third.
Leading 10-2, Garner came to bat in the fifth against relief pitcher, Dante Jones who hit and walked the first hitters of the inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Norris, reached on an error to score a run. Walters then grounded out to score another run. Torruella singled to plate yet another run and later scored on a wild pitch as the Trojans capped the game with a 15-2 win over the Bulldogs.
The Trojans will return to action on Thursday night at 7:00 when they travel to East Wake.
Softball blasts Bulldogs
The Lady Trojans had another productive offense afternoon as the bombarded Southeast Raleigh 32-0.
Garner will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to East Wake for a 7:00 first pitch.
