Seven seniors suited up for the final time in the regular season at Trojan Coliseum, and everything went according plan for the Garner Trojans as they blasted East Wake for the second night in a row 75-49.
Garner (20-0, 13-0) began the game on fire as Donald Johnson scored nine of his 13 points in the first quarter along with Nicholas Wyrick who scored four points in his first start of the season, as the Trojans took a 20-8 lead after the opening eight minutes.
East Wake (6-15, 3-10) had no answer for the Trojans in the paint on Tuesday night as Dominique Reed scored all 11 of his first half points in the second quarter meanwhile Emmanuel McClain added seven first half points to give Garner a commanding 38-21 lead at the break.
The second half was more of the same as the Warriors couldn't keep up the speed of the Trojans as the men of Troy took a 58-35 lead after three and cruised to a 75-49 win.
For the second night in a row, Garner placed several figures in double-figures. Tuesday, four Trojans scored in double digits as the Trojans keep their perfect record in tact.
Garner will close the regular season on Friday night when they travel to Harnett Central for a 7:30 tip off.
Varsity Girls Fall to East Wake
The Lady Trojans played East Wake tight the most of the game, but in the end, the Lady Warriors found a way to win as they edged Garner 45-38.
Garner stayed in the game for the entire first half playing East Wake to a 10-10 tie after the first and a halftime, the two teams were knotted at 19.
In the second half, East Wake began to pull away and Garner just couldn't complete the upset as the Warriors swept the season series with Garner.
The Lady Trojans cap the regular season on Friday night when they travel to Harnett Central for a 6:00 tip.
JV Boys Down East Wake
Coach Bloms and the JV Trojans hit a bucket at the buzzer to defeat East Wake 79-77. The win moves the Trojans to 18-3 overall and 11-2 inside the conference.
