Lady Trojans upset Warriors advance to Semi-finals

It has been an up and down season for Coach Mays and the Lady Trojans, but on Monday night, Garner claimed their biggest victory of the season, as they defeated East Wake 53-51 to advance to the semi-finals of the conference tournament.

Garner, who entered as the number seven seed, played at Clayton against the three seed, the East Wake Warriors. The Lady Trojans faced off with the Warriors for the third time in a week. The two meetings last week were back and fourth games, but East Wake pulled away in the final period for a pair of victories.

However, on Monday Garner put everything together in a two-point win. Despite the close final score, the Lady Trojans built a lead that grew to as many as 15 during the game, and held on down the stretch to win 53-51.

With the victory the Lady Trojans keep their dream of making the state playoffs alive (Garner has to win the tournament to qualify).

Garner will return to action on Wednesday night when they will take on the Comets who defeated West Johnston on Monday night 58-44. Garner and Clayton will tip at 6:00 on Wednesday night at Southeast Raleigh High School.
