Garner put a season high six players in double figures as the Trojans picked up their 19th win of the season with a 91-71 thrashing of East Wake on Monday night.

East Wake (6-14, 3-9) began the game on fire as they used several back door cuts and took advantage of the Trojan defense to build an early five point lead which prompted head coach, Eddie Gray to call a timeout. Following the stoppage in play, Garner cruised to a 20-15 lead after one. Emmanuel McClain paced the Trojans in the opening quarter with 10 points including a pair of three pointers.

In the second stanza, Garner (19-0, 12-0) got a ton of offense from Donald Johnson who after going scoreless in the opening period scored 11 of his 16 points in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Dominique Reed scored eight of his 10 points in the opening half to give the Trojans a 48-30 lead heading into the locker room.

Gavin Wilson came out for the second half as a man on a mission, as he scored his teams first eight points in the second half and really put the game away. East Wake had no answer for the Trojans as they dominated the third quarter as they took a 73-45 lead to the fourth and final quarter.

The final quarter saw a lot of playing time for the non-starters but there was never a let down as the Trojans continued to force the issue as they pulled away for the 91-71 win over the Warriors.

Garner and East Wake will face off once again tomorrow night at Trojan Coliseum at 7:30. Before the game, the seniors will be honored.

Varsity Girls fall to East Wake

East Wake had a very poor shooting night, unfortunately, so did Garner. The Lady Trojans just couldn't get over the hump as the Lady Warriors showed why they are the number two team in the Greater Neuse River, as they pulled away for a 66-34 win over Garner.

The Lady Trojans return to action tomorrow night at 6:00 when they play host to East Wake. Following the game, the seniors will be honored by the athletic department.
