Maher finishes second in state

Senior wrestler Tyler Maher put his undefeated record on the line this weekend in the state championship at the Greensboro Coliseum. Maher advanced all the way o the state finals before falling in a tough match.

Maher began his quest for a state title by pinning Christoper Walker from Parkland high school. He then advanced to the semi-finals on Saturday where he faced David Lee of Northwest Guilford.

Tyler took out Lee with a pin 3:41 into the match to advance to the state championship where he faced the top ranked Collin Campbell from Roxboro Person.

The championship match came right down to the end, and in a 7-4 decision, Campbell became the champion at the 285 weight class.

Maher ends his senior season with a 38-1 record! Congratulations to Tyler for his outstanding season and best of luck in his collegiate career!
