For the second night in a row, Garner placed multiple players in double figures as they built a 14 point halftime lead and never looked back as they remained undefeated with a 78-61 road win over Smithfield-Selma.

Garner (17-0, 10-0) used a big first quarter from Gavin Wilson who scored eight of his career high 27 points in the first quarter while the Spartans had no answer for the uptempo style the Trojans ran as after the first eight minutes, Garner had a 21-9 lead.

Smithfield-Selma (6-13, 2-8) managed to make a run in the second quarter as they attempted to climb back in the game with a 13-3 run over the second stanza, but still trailed on the scoreboard. The only thing that kept the Spartans around was the three point line, SSS hit four three pointers in the first half. However, the Spartans were still down at the break 43-29.

In the second half, Garner emptied the bench as every player saw the floor - for the second night in a row. The Trojans pounded the ball inside to Dominique Reed who scored 13 points and Cameron Redd added nine for the Trojans as they took a 55-40 lead to the final quarter.

After scoring just two third quarter points, Wilson poured in 11 points in the final eight minutes, to finish with a career high of 27 points. His previous career high was 23, which was set on December 10 at West Johnston.

Garner pulled away down the stretch to take home their 17th win of the season with a 78-61 victory. The men of Troy will be back in action on Friday night when they host Southeast Raleigh with tip off slated for 7:30.
