JV Trojans shutout the Warriors, remain unbeaten

Juwan Moye piles up 225 yards with two scores and Demetrius Fairley adds 138 yards and a score in the 20-0 win over E.Wake. Moye dashes 78 yards on the first play from scrimmage to put the Trojans up 6-0 just 22 seconds into the game. But the Warriors keep the Trojans off the board again until 2:31 to go in the half despite Garner piling up 244 yards of total offense. The Warriors manage only 42 yards for the first half.

After Moye's scamper, the Warriors fumble the ensuing kick, recoverd by Joshua Bullock at the E.Wake 16. But fail to pick up a first down and the field goal attempt fails when the snap is high and Kyle Wiggins completion to Edwin Jackson is not enough to move the chains. The Warriors take back over at their own 7. The teams trade possessions with the Warriors taking back over at their 23. After an 8-yard pass, a Warrior fumble is recovered by Malik Knight. The Trojans effectively move the ball 56 yards in 6 plays with Fairley and Moye alternating carries but the drive ends on fourth and 3 when Moye can manage only two yards. E.Wake converts a 36 yard pass. But just 7-yards more and punt to the Garner 23. Another Garner drive ends with a failed 4th down conversion. Nine consecutive rushes takes the ball down to the Warrior 8, where Fairley bulls up the middle for an apparent score, but a Garner holding call, only the second Trojan penalty of the half, brings up 3rd and 11. Dwight Darity hits Seth Council for 6 yards but Darity is dropped for a six yard loss on fourth down. However, Daniel Alston picks off the Warrior QB on first down and takes it back to the 12. Fairley takes it in from six yards out but picks up a personal foul call on the score. The PAT from 18 yards out is missed and the Trojans go into the half up 13-0.

Shaquille Nuridden ends the Warrior first drive of the second half with an interception at the Trojan 20 but can only manage a 12-yard Moye run before setting up to punt. The snap forces Andre Gillispie to run with it and the Warrior defense drops him for a 5 yard loss at the Trojan 25. The Garner defense stiffens and a Warrior holding call forces them back to the 41. An incompletion on fourth down gives Garner the ball back at the 23. Fairley sweeps left for 25 yards and Moye 3 into Warrior territory. Darity hits Jackson for 23 yards over the middle. After Moye runs it down to the E.Wake ten yard line, a Garner holding call followed by an offense pass interference call puts the Trojans facing 3rd and 40 for the first and the drive ends with an Andre Gilliespie punt. E.Wake picks up a first down, their first of the half but nothing more. After the punt, the Trojans put together a 65 yard, 5 play drive with Moye scoring from 4 yards out and Connor Torruella's kick ends the scoring at 20-0.

The Trojan defense is stout allowing just 4 first downs and get a fumble recovery from Gillispie and an interception from DeAnthony Harris down the stretch to preserve the shutout. The Trojans go to 9-0 and look to complete their undefeated season next Thursday at Holly Springs.
