After trailing by three at halftime, the Garner Trojans used a 23 point third quarter to ease past the Knightdale Knights 76-61 on Friday night at Knightdale High School to keep the Trojans perfect on the young season.

Knightdale (5-6, 1-3) started fast in the opening quarter racing out to a four point lead as Garner struggled to get things going on offense. The Trojans finally got things going as they feed the ball to the post where Dominique Reed scored six of his 11 points in the first quarter, to put the Garner in the lead 18-14 after the first stanza. However, the Trojans left several points on the board as they were 0-5 from the line in the first.

In the second quarter, Garner (7-0, 3-0) again struggled to find their stroke as Knightdale Sophomore, Deshaun Griffin scored six points in the second stanza which gave the Knights a 29-26 lead at halftime.

After halftime, Garner came out on fire as the outside shooters got hot as on back to back possessions, Gavin Wilson drained three point shots, but not to be out done, Donald Johnson also caught fire from outside. As a result, Garner erased the three point deficit and took a 52-38 lead into the final quarter.

Johnson took over for the Trojans in the final quarter as he scored 10 of his game high 23 points in the fourth quarter to keep Garner at a safe distance as they never trailed again. With the 76-61 win, the Trojans break a two-game losing streak to Knightdale.
