Are you interested in turning your home into an international home? Hosting an international student in your home gives your family the enriching opportunity to live with someone from another country. You share the American experience and learn about another culture at the same time. Students are coming from Brazil, Turkey, Germany, France, and China. There are fall semester and year-long opportunities available. The responsibilities of a host family include providing two meals per day and a place to sleep and study. The student can share a bedroomwith a same-gender child of similar age. The students speak English, have their own spending money (for lunch, extracurricular activities, clothing, etc) and their own health insurance. Deadline for placement in Wake County is July 31. If you are interested in hosting or have questions about the process, contact ASAP: Crystal Allis, Local Coordinator 919-788-0852 (office/home) 919-413-3652 (cell)
Students scheduled to arrive August 6th:
Meet Miss Zhenhao Bao
Meet Miss Chenchen Shen
Update July 27th from Ms. Allis:
I have students who are still waiting for placement for this coming school year and time is running out. Please forward this request to everyone you know in NC. You never know who may be willing to help. Send to your neighbors, church groups, co-workers, etc.
I hate to see any students be left behind. Please help these students live their dream of coming to America! We have many students that are still looking for home in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area. I have listed them below. The Wake County and Chapel Hill deadlines are July 31, which is Thursday. After that, none of these great students will be allowed to come to live out their dream. I have included their name and country. If anyone wants more info on a particular student contact cgallis@earthlink.net or call 919-788-0852
You or someone you know can commit for the entire year or you can commit to being a welcome family for 4 - 6 weeks while a permanent placement is found.
I have a total of 20 students coming this fall. The large majority are girls. I would love to try to even out my group by throwing in some more boys to the mix.
Priority is given to the top two students on this list as they are on assignment with me, which basically means I have promised to find them a placement.
These male students are still available and look like students I'd like to represent and they are still waiting on a spot.
Thanks for your help!
