Trojans fall to Knightdale

Knightdale left hander, Daniel Batts fired a complete game two hitter keeping the Trojans off balance all night long as the Knights handed the Trojans their first conference loss of the season 6-1.

The Knights (4-4, 2-2) scored their first of four runs (three unearned) off Trojan starter Tyler Marshburn (L, 3-1) in the opening inning as Jonathan Smith scored on a error allowing TJ Viracola to reach and give the home team a 1-0 lead.

After a pair of runs in the fourth and a single run in the fifth, Knightdale had a 4-0 lead before the Trojans got on the board.

Garner (7-4, 4-1) pushed across a run in the sixth as Marshburn walked and scored one batter later when Reese Bridges dropped a fly ball in right field to make it 4-1.

That would be a close as the Trojans would get as Knightdaled added a pair of runs in the last of the sixth for the final margin of 6-1.

Garner will return to action on Wednesday at 7:00 when they travel to Bengal Park to battle Fuquay-Varina.
