Marbrey's perfect game helps Garner to victory

Sophomore right hander Lauren Marbrey tossed the first perfect game of her career on Thursday night helping the Garner varsity softball to a 10-0 five inning victory over the visiting Cary Imps at Trojan Field.

Garner (2-1, 0-1) bounced back after a tough loss to open the conference season with the big non-conference victory. The Lady Trojans jumped ahead 4-0 after the first three innings with Courtney Barbour and Amber Kirkland crossing the plate in the third frame.

The lead grew in the fourth inning as Alyssa D'Arco doubled to the gap to unload the bases as three runs scored and a one hitter later, when Bridgett Kirkland singled home D'Arco and the Lady Trojans led 8-0 as they coasted to the 10-0 five inning victory.

Coach Barbour and his ladies return home on Friday night at 7:00 when they return to conference play when they welcome East Wake to Trojan Field.
