Trojans advance in Holiday Invitational


Garner faced off against one of the top recruits in the country on Wednesday night and answered the call as the Trojans hammered nationally ranked Strake Jesuit out of Houston, Texas 76-61 at Holliday Invitational.

Jesuit (10-3) manged to keep the Trojans close leading 12-10 after the first quarter, however, in the second quarter Garner (8-1) got a big game from Dominique Reed who scored 11 of his team high 21 points in the second quarter to keep the game close as both teams went into the locker room tied at 23.

In the third quarter, Garner jumped out to a huge lead as they dominated the boards outscoring the Crusaders 20-9 in the third quarter and took a 53-34 lead to the final eight minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Larry Richardson found his offensive game after defending Duke recruit Rasheed Sulaimon the entire game, scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to lift the men of Troy to the 76-61 victory.

Garner will advance in the winners bracket to face Kinston tomorrow night at 7:20 inside Broughton's Holliday Gymnasium. The Trojan Sports Network will carry the game beginning at 7:00.

JV Boys reach final

Coach Bloms and his JV Trojans advanced to the final of the Athens Drive JV Tournament with a 67-60 victory over Millbrook.

The JV Trojans will face host school Athens Drive tomorrow night at 7:00 for the Championship.
