Yeargan Foundation establishes GMHS scholarships

Wake Technical Community College Foundation has received a $50,000 donation from The Yeargan Foundation Charitable Trust of Garner, according to a news release from the college. The money will be used to establish two endowed scholarships that will benefit graduates of Garner High School. Each annual scholarship will be awarded to an eligible full-time student with a grade-point average of at least 3.0. The recipient may be enrolled in any associate in arts or associate in science degree program at Wake Tech, the release said.

One scholarship will be awarded to an eligible student on the basis of financial need. The second scholarship will be awarded to a student who meets criteria based on academic achievement.

Both scholarships are expected to be awarded for the first time for the 2008-2009 academic year.
