Trojans Run Past Cougars; Advance to Championship

Garner scored the first nine points of its game against Goldsboro on Wednesday afternoon and never looked back as the men of Troy advanced to the Championship Game of the 41st Annual HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational by virtue of its 71-42 victory.

The Trojans (8-1) began the game in its diamond press and forced countless turnovers while converting on the offensive end to take a 9-0 lead in the first minute and a half of the game.

Goldsboro (5-5) did its best to climb back into the contest timing to lead to single digits on two occasions in the opening stanza but Garner went to the locker room leading 47-21.

Garner used the three-point strip to perfection in the opening half as well, knocking down four long-range bombs with Julius Barnes knocking in three.

The Cougars had no answer in the second half as Garner went into the paint and fed Jasper Stallings who finished the game with a career-high 10 points and also pouring in five rebounds.

Coach Eddie Gray was also able to play his entire line-up as the Trojans coasted to 71-42 victory and advanced to the Championship Game of the Holiday Invitational on Thursday against the Dudley Panthers. The game will tip a 2:20 from Broughton's Holliday Gym.
