Garner scored early and often on Friday night as they opened the 2011 season with a 62-42 win over the Enloe Eagles at Len Bauer Stadium.

Enloe (0-1) struck first as the Trojans fumbled the opening kick-off and gave the Eagles a short filed which allowed Charlie Twitty to rumble into the endzone for an early 7-0 lead for Enloe.

On the ensuing possession, Garner (1-0), used a steady diet of the run to march the ball down the field on the Eagle defense as Juwan Moye capped the drive with a rushing touchdown to tie the score at seven all.

The Trojan offense exploded in the second quarter as Garner scored through the air and on the ground. Junior quarterback, Vince Jefferies connected with Tim Thorb and Brayden Sims for scores through the air. Meanwhile, Demetrius Fairley scored four times on the night to give Garner a 42-7 halftime lead.

Enloe made a push to get back in the game in the third quarter, but the Trojans squashed the rally attempt and held on for the 62-42 win. It was the first time Garner has won a season opener since 2007 when they defeated Millbrook 28-6.

The Trojans open the home portion of their schedule next week as the welcome the Athens Drive Jaguars to Trojan Stadium, kick-off is slated for 7:30.
