The Trojans enter the GNRC Tournament with Hannah Hamlin #2 seed and Sarah Hamlin #3 seed in the singles tournament and the teams of Elizabeth Pittman/Alyssa Clark (#4 seed) and Nicole Root/Mandisa Ebri (#5 seed) will compete in the doubles tournament. Jefferies commits to UNC Pembroke
Congratulations to Senior Ka'asha Jefferies on her committment to UNC Pembroke volleyball. A 2012 All-GNRC, our Lady Trojan has 163 kills in 50 sets with 34 aces this season for the 17-2 defending conference champs. Hines sets Trojan record with 7 touchdowns
Junior Nyheim Hines scores a school record 7TD's with 508 yards of total offense in the Trojans 58-10 win over Broughton. Hines finishes once short of the NCHSAA record in 3 qtrs of play. Senior Brighton Hudson leads the Trojans (2-1) with 11-12 passing for 326 yards and 4 TD's
Hines school record breaks Hall of Famer Anthony Barbour's 1987 record of six and just one short of the NCHSAA record held by 4 players. Hines has 13 TD's in 3 games, which is one better than the Garner record through three games (Barbour 1987). His 508 yards total offense (268 rush, 40 pass, 163 receiving and 37 returns) sets the school record (breaking his record of 471 from last week) as was his 44 points scored. Hines has 598 rushing & 1,252 yards of total offense through 3 games which leads the NC 4A so far this season.
The Trojans set a school record for total offense 731 yards for the night in their 26th straight home win at beautiful Trojan Stadium.

Nyheim Hines scores 3 TD's including a 93-yard kick return and the Thurman Leach era opens with the top-ranked Trojans 21-16 win over #4 Middle Creek. Hines scores on runs of 5 & 11 yards, piling up 85 yards rushing adding 47 receiving. Brighton Hudson passes for 141 yards for Garner (1-0) Julius Barnes leads the Trojans with 55 yards receiving on two catches.
Trojan defense is keyed by a key fumble recovery by Markus Mosley on a Mustang fourth and goal from the one with just 0:58 left to preserve the win. Aaron Smith & Greg Wells fumble recoveries were key to the Trojan win, their 10th in 11 games against the cross town rivals.

Garner Blows Over Terry Sanford
The Garner trojans baseball team beats Fayetteville's Terry Sanford 5-1 last Friday night. Brighton Hudson pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out five. Skyler Strickland hits a solo home run. This makes it the boys 23rd straight win. The boys will travel to Richmond County for the 4th round of playoffs Tuesday night.

Baseball Advances To The Third Round
Trojans baseball beats New Bern 5-1 last night in the second round of playoffs now leading them into the third round against Terry Stanford. The boys started off the game strong from the beginning with Vince Jefferies hitting a home run in the first inning and made a great diving catch in the left field during the game.Skyler Strickland pitched a good 6 scoreless innings.They will play Friday night at trojan park at 7 against Terry Stanford.

Softball unfortunately won't make it to the third round of playoffs as they fell 6-4 to East Wake Tuesday night. Not able to hold them up Alisha Josey still hit a two run home run.
Softball & Baseball Move To The Second Round Of Playoffs
Softball shuts down Athens Drive Friday night in the first round of the playoffs 10-0. Courtney Weathersbee had a 3 run double and Maddy Stewart added a 2 run double to lead the Lady Trojans to victory. The Lady Trojans play in the second round Tuesday night at home against Greater Neuse River Conference foe East Wake at 7:00.

Garner's Track Team Competes In The 4A State Championship
Congrats to the Boys and Girls Track Teams for a successful Saturday at the 4A Eastern Regional Championships
Nyah Hines finished 3rd in the Girls 100 Hurdles.
The girls 4x100 relay ( Nyah Hines , Joycelyn Eason, Khai Chandler, Lacherie Clark) finshed in 4th place.
Justin Burkey finish 3rd in the boys 2mile with a personal best time of 9:47 ( a new school record) .
Nyhiem Hines finish second in the 300 hurdles and 4th place in the 100 meter dash
Those athletes will be competing at the 4A State Championships this Saturday on the Campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro

Baseball ended their regular season last night against Harnett Central 7-6 and now are undefeated in conference. They are holding the first seed spot in the GNRC going into playoffs. The first round of playoffs start for them Friday at 7 at home.

Garner Strikes Out Knightdale
Baseball won 12-0 against Knightdale, Brighton Hudson threw a 6 inning shut out. Skyler Strickland as well hit a home run for the trojans. The boys finish out their regular season against Southeast tomorrow night, and with a win will be conference champions for the first time since 2006.
Softball also shuts down Knightdale only giving up 1 run winning 9-1. Alisha Josey hit a 2 run home run last night. They also play southeast tomorrow, and Harnett Central Monday for senior night to close there regular season.
Women's Soccer Shuts Out Harnett Central
The lady trojans last night finished their last conference game and senior night against Harnett Central with a 6-0 win. The girls kept a steady pace the whole game keeping it away from Central. Goals were scored by Bayleigh Adams (2) Michaela Wycoff (2) Taylor Cooke (1) Hannah Hamlin (1) and three assist for Heather Wilfong and a shut out for goalie Elizabeth Pittman. The girls go into playoffs next week standing in third place.

Thursday's Games Come Out With A Win
Baseball won 4-0 against West Johnston, Brighton Hudson threw another gem. He threw a 4 hit shut out. The boys take a commanding lead in the conference by 2 games with only 3 games left in the conference.
Softball pulled through, being up 3-1 in the 6th inning. Shea Barbour hit a walk off single ending the game 4-3 going into 10 innings. They also have 3 games left in the conference and now tied with West Johnston for first.
Baseball & Softball Hold It Together
Softball beat Harnett Central 5-2 Monday night for a makeup game, the game went into 9 innings. Then Tuesday they blew out SSS as well as baseball winning 12-2. Both teams JV and Varsity play West Johnston today.
Women's Soccer Has A Downfall
Lady trojans loss two of their games this week, first one Monday night against West Johnston 0-1. And last nights loss 1-2 Garners only goal scored by Bayleigh Adams. Trojans held the game together having many shots on goal but none could go in, Knightdale getting lucky with both of their goals. The girls stand in third in the GNRC, playing a non conference game tonight against Fuquay.

Baseball Takes Commanding Lead In GNRC
It was also a good week for Garner baseball winning all three of their games. Tuesday they played Clayton who is second in conference winning 7-3 Brighton Hudson threw the entire game and only gave up two hits. They beat Harnett Central Wednesday by two with Skyler Strickland as the winning pitcher & Jake Ellington with the save , final score 4-2. Last night the boys smacked East Wake 8-1 & winning pitcher Ian Monahan.

Trojans Dominates This Week In Soccer
Women's soccer won all three games this week, Monday's against East Wake. Wednesday night they played against SSS who they previously beat 7-0. Going into the game confident, they were only able to score one goal the whole game by Taylor Cooke. Final score 1-0. Last night they played Harnett Central, giving Garner a fight but they pulled through with a 3-0 win goals scored by Michaela Wycoff (2) and Bayleigh Adams. (7-6-1) (7-2-1)

Women's Soccer Moving Up In Conference
Monday night the lady trojans beat East Wake in a conference game. The East Wake warriors put the first goal on the score board. Garner held it tight though, Hannah Hamlin scores Garner's first goal off a cross with a header keeping it tied 1-1 at halftime. Right at the start of the second half the first play Tori Ellsworth scores off an assist from Taylor Cooke. Then Michaela Wycoff finishes the game with one goal making the final score 3-1. Women's soccer travels to Smithfield Selma Wednesday and Harnett Central Thursday.

Garner women's soccer team battles Clayton last night, previously playing them and ending with a tie in overtime. First Quarter was back to back the comets scored the first goal off a foul. Then Garner's Bayleigh Adams follows with a goal and Clayton firing right back with another. The half ends with another goal from Bayleigh Adams and one more goal for Garner, Clayton scoring an own goal. Second half only one goal was scored for Garner by Michaela Wycoff. Final score ending as 4-2.
