GPD Golf Tournament to benefit Special Olympics
The Garner Police Department will be hosting their annual golf challenge July 11, 2008 starting at 1pm at Reedy Creek Golf Course. Dinner will be served at the conclusion of the challenge. Awards and a raffle will then conclude the afternoon. Cost is $300 per team and sponsorships are available for as little as $100. Contact Officer Mike McIver for registration.

Garner defeats Middle Creek 2-1 on Brett Bailey's RBI to score Brett Walters from third in the bottom of the 7th. Matt Powell started for the Trojans and was relieved by Colin Perry and Wil Norris picks up the win. The Trojans defense is impressive, including 3 double plays. The Trojans advance to a 7PM game Saturday, also at W.Harnett HS.

All-State performer, Meagan Proper has a huge nine point night with 3 goals and 3 assists for the Trojans (7-0-2). Garner Lions Club "Dollar for Scholars" golf set for April 23rd
The Garner Lions Club will be having their 24th annual "Dollars for Scholars" golf tournament on Wednesday, April 23 at 1pm at Riverwood Golf Course in Clayton. All proceeds from this tournament goes to scholarships for senior students at Garner Magnet High School and Wake Christian Academy. This is a "best ball" tournament format. Guererro wins NATA National Service Award
Head Athletic Trainer Mike Guerrero will be awarded the National Athletic Trainers' Association Service Award at the National Convention this June in St. Louis, Missouri . Mike was also the recipient of the 2007 Triangle Area Community Sports Medicine of the Year award in December 2007 and has served meritoriously as the Head Trainer for the NC-SC Shrine Bowl for the past 4 years. A 1982 alum of Garner High School, Mike is a two time NCATA Trainer of the Year. Congratulations Mr. Guerrero!!

Garner Magnet High School College Fair
GMHS is proud to host its first College Fair on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Representatives from over 25 different colleges/universities will be on campus to provide general information and answer questions about their institutions. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to attend.

Varsity takes the home match 5-0 against the Wildcats. NCSU signee Paige Dugal scores a "hat trick" with 3 goals and adds 2 assists and Meagan Proper has 2 goals for the third consecutive match for the Lady Trojans (2-0-1) . Proper assisted on all three Dugal goals. Goalkeeper Sarah Hooper posts her second shutout of the season:
