The Varsity Baseball Team also returned home on Tuesday night when they hosted Knightdale. The Trojans were coming off a 8-6 come from behind victory over Clayton just four days prior and it became apparent very early in the game that they would avoid a hangover from the game on Friday.
Jacob Baker took the hill for the Trojans and he looked sharp as he went into the fifth inning without allowing a hit. Baker would go 5 2/3 Innings Pitched, giving up just two hits, 1 run and strikeout 11 batters.
The other story on the night was the Trojans offense. Garner started early getting two un-earned runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Brown and an RBI single by Pat Monahan. Garner added an RBI double in the second by Paco Martin to take a 3-1 lead.
With Garner up 5-1, they poured it on it the fifth. Pat Monahan led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Phillip Myrick triple to score Monahan. Gabe Chrismon then came to the plate and Coach Goffena put the wheels in motion as he sent Myrick toward the plate and Chrismon laid down a beautiful bunt as the Trojans suicide squeezed home the 7th Garner run of the game.
But they weren't done yet. Jackson Pleasant followed with a double to left center, which Jeremy Conyers followed with a single to right to put runners at first a third. Paco Martin then had a sacrifice fly to left to plate Pleasant and Ricky Martin tripled to left center to score Conyers and end the Garner scoring.
The Trojans held on in the 7th to take home the 9-1 win. Garner now improved to 11-8 on the season and 7-4 in the Conference with a huge match up at SSS on Friday night at 7.

Cardiac JV Trojans Win Again
The JV team spotted Knightdale a 7-0 lead at Trojan Park on Tuesday and rallied to win the game 8-7. Colin Perry provided the initial spark for the team with his 3 run-Home run to right field that was just inside the fair pole which made it 7-3.
Garner continued to chip away at the lead before coming back to tie the game when CJ Schmidt doubled and Conner Torruella singled to tie the game. Garner would win the game in the bottom of the 7th on a bases loaded walk.
