Athens Drive scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of Wednesday's contest to hand the Garner Trojans their first loss of the season 6-4.

Athens (1-3) loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth inning to chance Trojan reliever Jake Ellington (L, 0-1) from the game. Alec Hulmes entered and on and one ball, two strike pitch, Patrick Graham laced a two-run single to left field to break the four all tie.

Garner (3-1) brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh against Conner Lewing (W, 1-0) but they couldn't get the key hit.

The Trojans trailed 3-1 after three, but managed to rally thanks to five consecutive walks by Jaguar starter Matt McAllister. Aquail Sanders also delivered a sacrifice fly in the three-run fourth.

After dropping their first game of the season, the Trojans will return home on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 when they welcome Fuquay-Varina to Trojan Park.
