On a night where Garner honored their seven baseball seniors, the Trojans sent them off in fine fashion as the men of Troy downed Southeast Raleigh 12-2 in six innings at Trojan Park.
Garner (14-9, 9-4) scored three runs in their opening at bat thanks to a wild pitch and a two-run home run by Tyler Marshburn off Bulldog starter Colin Tangherlini (L, 0-6).
After adding a single run in the second, third and fourth, the Trojans were sitting pretty when on the other end, Garner starter, Scotty McCreery (W, 3-0), was keeping Southeast Raleigh (0-17, 0-13) off balance as he struck out a career high eight batters.
Meanwhile, Garner added three runs in the fifth on an RBI double from Aquail Sanders along with a pinch hit RBI base hit from Carrington Austin and Robert Doak grounded out to drive home the final run of the frame.
Finally, in the sixth the Trojans were able to end the game on a two-run triple from pitcher turned right fielder Trey Thompson as Garner won their Senior Night contest for the sixth straight year defeating the Bulldogs 12-2.
The Trojans will close their 2012 regular season on Monday night at 7:00 when they travel to Harnett Central.
