The loss derails their hopes of a share of the GNRC regular season title and will make them the #2 seed in this weekend's conference tournament. Lady Trojans Co-Champions of GNRC Soccer

Meagan Proper scores twice and Danielle McCartney and Paige Dugal tally one each as the Lady Trojans (16-1-2) top SE Raleigh 4-2. The win ties the school record for wins in a season, set by the 2007 team. Due to the GMHS Prom and the co-champion Clayton Comets will also advance to the NCHSSA play-offs, it was agreed there would not be a final game:

Trojans Senior Night scrambling pays-off with a win

Don't look now, but the Trojans are definitely in the hunt!! Senior Day started with a near postponement with umpire scheduling issues and ends with a Zach Howell 12-strikeout, 6-hitter for the 9-5 win over SSS.

The Trojans breakout early with Senior Wil Medlin single and Matt Kiel walks in the first. Dillon Creech RBI single plates Medlin and Eric Josey doubles to score Kiel and Creech and the Trojans lead 3-0 after one. The Spartans score in the 2nd but Howell records 3 K's in the inning. The Trojans answer with a run in the bottom of the inning on a Howell sac fly with the bases loaded and 4-1 lead. Garner adds a run in the 3rd on Senior Jordan Young's RBI single to score Josey and its 5-1 Trojans. After Howell fans the side in the 4th, the Trojans flash the "D" in the 5th when Young flags down a drive in the left-center gap, relays to Creech who guns it to Paco Martin at third to cut down the Spartan runner and kill the threat. In the Trojan half of the fifth, Senior Austin Gulley drives in Josey who reached on a walk and was moved to third on a Hunter Brown sacrifice and Young's grounder to the right side. Trojans are in charge 6-1. Howell survives the 6th despite opening with 3 walks. After a balk plates a run, two score on a Trojan error and the inning ends on Howell's 12th strikeout of the outing. Another Trojan answer off reliever Hunter Jones, lead by a Medlin single, a Spartan error and Howell walks. With the bases loaded, Josey rips a triple down the left field line to clear the bases and a 9-4 Garner lead. The Spartan manage a run in the 7th but no more and the Trojans (8-14) win two in a row for the first time this season headed into a Monday showdown with SE Raleigh for the final play-off spot for the GNRC

(Note: E.Wake beat SE Raleigh Friday night 4-2 which temporarily puts Garner in the 5th and final play-off spot.)

The Lady Trojans varsity softball, playing their third game in three days, turn back a SSS rally to win 7-5 on Senior Day. Christie Wright picks up the win, her 12th of the year and Morgan Barbour slams her 8th & 9th homers of the year in her regular season finale at Trojan Park.

Lacrosse ends year all even

In a break out year for the Trojan Lacrosse squad, they finish their year with an 11-5 loss at Enloe but with a #22-ranking in the state 4A power rankings and a 7-7 record. Kudos to Coach Lamb and his Trojans for a great year!!

The JV team ends up the year with a 7-7 tie at Enloe in a earlier match.

Lady Trojans knock off #1 W.Johnston

The Lady Trojans avenge an early season loss with the 5-2 GNRC win at W.Johnston. Amanda Beach singles to lead off the 4th and Cecily Parrott and Ashley Carroll have RBI singles and the Trojans lead 2-0 after 4 innings. Beach drives in Mary Scott Powell in the fifth to make it 3-0. The Wildcats scratch a run in the sixth off winning pitcher Christie Wright (11-3) but the Lady Trojans answer with Beach RBI double scoring Barbour. In the hustle move of the game, Beach scores from second on Wright's fly out to the warning track in deep center to push Garner's lead to 5-1. W.Johnston plates a run in the bottom of the 7th on a walk and a double but Beach diving stop of a grounder and flip to first ends the game and deadlocks the GNRC regular season race at 11-1 each with two games to go.

The Lady Trojans (14-4) play their Senior Day game vs SSS tomorrow following the JV game, approximately 5PM where they will honor the Senior Class of 2008 for their service to GMHS:

The varsity Trojans win 9-8 in overtime at SE Raleigh. The Trojans go to 7-6 on the year and will conclude the regular season at Enloe tomorrow night beginning with the JV match at 4:30.

Wright, Campbell pitch no-hitters vs the Knights

Christie Wright pitches a 10-strikeout no-hitter at Knightdale as the Lady Trojans (13-4) post a 6-0 shutout. Kimmie Stewart slugs her first home run of the year and the Trojans pound out 12 hits, including six for extra bases in the win. Wright's only close play was an over throw at first resulting in an error but preserved the gem. The Lady Trojans, 10-1 in the GNRC travel to #1-ranked W.Johnston (18-1, 11-0 in conference) Wednesday night for the much awaited showdown for the GNRC Regular Season title:

Breanne Campbell no-hits the Knights at Trojan Park for the 19-0 win in 5 innings. Campbell has 10k's in the outing and leading hitters for Garner (12-0) were Raven Smith, Morgan Daeke, Amanda Weathersby and Amber Robb.

The final JV game will be Thursday at 3:30 against SSS as the Trojans go for a perfect season.

Kiel pitches Trojans past Knightdale

Matt Kiel pitches a complete game with 12 strikeouts as the Trojan bats awake for the 8-3 win at Knightdale. Patrick Monahan scores on Dillon Creech's sacrifice fly in the first for a 1-0 lead. After the Knights even the game in their half of the first, Jordan Young, who went to third on Zach Clay single, scores on a balk to put Garner back ahead 2-1. In the third, Kiel drives in Zach Howell and Young draws a bases loaded walk and a 4-1 lead. The Knights cut the lead to 4-2 in the third on a Garner error before the Trojans add to their lead in the 5th when Clay drives in Eric Josey. Knightdale scores in the bottom of the fifth to cut the margin to 5-3. The Trojans build the final margin with a 3-run sixth, with Monahan drawing a walk, steals second and scores on Creech's triple and scores on a Knight wild pitch. Josey drives in Kiel for the final run and an 8-3 win. The win keeps their play-off hopes alive headed into Senior Night vs SSS this Thursday. The Trojans (7-14) trail SE Raleigh, who they face Monday night, for the 5th and final spot out of the GNRC:

Playing on back-to-back days due to weather cancellations, the Trojans pick up their 12th win of the season in the 8-1 GNRC road win at SE Raleigh. The Trojans (12-5) will host SENIOR DAY, Monday April 28th at 4PM vs Holly Springs. GMHS will honor the Class of 2008 for their service to our school: Logan Morgan, Michael Mahjoub, & Brian Ross.
